Product Overview

Firestop Selector is a software application designed to help Firestop specialists search, filter, and facilitate the purchase of Hilti firestop systems that are code-compliant and meet safety standards.

The challenge with this project was multi-faceted. Some of the main ones were: understanding our users existing workflow to accomplish certain tasks, accommodating users with different levels of expertise, creating an optimal path to filter + itemize and compile Firestop systems.

To better asses the quality of our updated software, we went to the job site to understand first-hand the needs of our users, how they use the software, and which tasks are most important. Here were the key takeaways:

• The images the were shown as part of their selection was not intuitive (reflective of the real objects)
• Our users were primarily interested in defining the quantity and cost of the hardware
• The inability to generate a BOM document and then revise was frustrating as changes can occur throughout the project
• A “cart” functionality was requested to preview their selection before committing to generate their final document
