Overview

Executing a price change request on average could take up to 9 days to process. This was a major pain point for merchandising managers as it could cause financial losses for their department each day that a price change was not processed.

The goal of our team (enterprise pricing solutions) was to identify the bottlenecks and propose software solutions that could help reduce the time it took to fully execute a price change request.

My contributions were in helping our product team define what UI changes could be implemented to achieve this based on the data collected from our research.

Based on the research insights, here are the designs I proposed:

Key learnings from this initiative:

This project was layers and layers of discussions, reviews, clarifications, and a lot of data collecting across teams and functions. Throughout the process, there would be times where it felt like we would take 2 steps forward and 1 step back. Here’s how I might approach it a little differently next time:

🔶 Ensure that other teams are aware of the initiative before engaging in research activities

🔶 Confirm that product manager’s goals align with engineering team’s understand of the problem

🔶 Don’t assume all stakeholders understand the business rules involved in certain pricing events
